About Our Agency
John H. Leming opened his first insurance agency on Commerce Avenue in Sunland, California in 1935. At the time, the agency sold mostly Homeowners and Auto Insurance to the residents of the surrounding area. He was joined in his business by two of his three sons, Douglas Leming and John T. Leming. The business thrived, the agency was incorporated in 1962, and was renamed John H. Leming & Sons. After his passing, John H. Leming’s sons continued on in the insurance business. Douglas Leming opened Leming Insurance in Simi Valley and John Thomas Leming took over the agency and stayed in Sunland.
John H. Leming & Sons moved to Northridge in the 1980’s. The office was situated in the First Interstate building on Tampa and Nordhoff. This building collapsed during the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. To keep the business open, John and his partner, Mary Antle, moved the agency temporarily into her home in Valencia, CA. Eventually, they settled into an office on Lyons Avenue in Newhall, CA and the agency has stayed in Santa Clarita ever since, finding it a most welcoming city.
The 90’s brought other changes to the agency, with the addition of a new agent and John’s nephew, Lino Cambaliza. Lino specialized in commercial insurance and John H. Leming & Sons became a stronger force in the brokerage business with his expertise.
In 2007, John T. Leming sold the agency to his nephew, Lino Cambaliza, the agency’s current principal. Since then, our agency has continued in the business traditions and practices set forth by its founders. Sadly, John T. Leming passed away in February of 2014, leaving great big shoes for us to fill in his honor.
